CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Cultured Marble, Cultured Onyx & Cultured Granite

GLOSS

This finish is smooth and shiny and should be handled like the finish on your car.  Cleaning should be done with soap and water using a soft cloth or sponge.  Applying car wax will form a barrier which will increase the luster and make the product easier to clean by making it more difficult for dirt and grime to adhere to the surface.

SATIN/MATTE

This finish has a smooth, dull or abraded appearance.  These products can be cleaned more aggressively with soap, water and preferably a Scotch Bright Pad.  Abrasive cleansers can be used and will not harm the finish.  However, depending on the grit of the abrasive particles, they can leave noticeable scratches which will have to be removed by sanding or using a Scotch Bright pad on the entire piece.

Any gloss finish can be made matte by simply using a Scotch Bright Pad on the entire piece.

You MUST be careful NOT to buff or sand through the gel coat wear surface.  Once this is done, the piece is no longer protected in that area.

Engineered Stone

For everyday cleaning use a damp cloth, soft sponge or paper towel.  Before applying any cleaning agent be sure to rinse all of the surface area completely.  For stubborn stains you can use a neutral pH cleaner and nonabrasive scrubbing pad. For more stubborn stains use a mild liquid detergent or stain specific poultice solution.

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS

  • It is recommended that a pH neutral cleaning product be used.
  • Be careful when exposing your top to any household cleaners; test in a small inconspicuous area first.
  • Do not expose your top to any chemicals that contain acetone, methyl chloroform, hydrofluoric acid or methylene chloride. (Paint remover, furniture stripper) anything that would etch the surface.
  • In case of an accidental exposure thoroughly rinse the area with water.

Real Granite

The weight of granite is heavier than that of a cultured marble vanity top.  Please address safety and handling issues for lifting, loading and unloading accordingly.

CLEANING

Clean stone surfaces with a few drops of non-acidic soap scum remover, or a mild liquid dishwashing detergent.  Frequent use of soap scum remover can result in the dulling of the surface.  Make sure to thoroughly rinse and dry the top after washing.

  • Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar or any acid that can etch the surface.
  • Do not use abrasive cleansers

SPILLS & STAINS

Blot the spill with a paper towel immediately.  Don’t wipe the area, this will spread the spill.  Flush the area with water and mild soap and rinse several times. Dry the area with a soft cloth, repeat as necessary.

SEALING THE GRANITE TOP

Most stones, once protected will be easy to clean.  We recommend you seal your product thirty to sixty days after installation with a Stone Care international granite sealer and then once a year thereafter.  Simply follow the instructions on the bottle.

Prism Quartz

Quartz is the toughest interior surface available on the market.  It resists scratching and staining better than any other natural stone or solid surface.

For everyday cleaning please use a mild household cleaner such as 409, Fantastic, Lysol, or Windex directly on a damp sponge or cloth.  In case of stubborn spills or stains, soak the area for up to 10 minutes with one of the above cleaners and vigorously wipe away with a non-scratch Scotch Brite pad.

Do not use degreasing agents with a high mineral content or highly vigorous products.  Avoid using metallic scouring pads.  Using these products can lead to the loss of the product guarantee.

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS

  • Always use a hot pad or trivet under hot pots or heat producing appliances.
  • Always use a cutting board
  • Never stand on your counters
  • Avoid harsh chemicals such as drain cleaners and paint removers
  • Always run cold water when pouring boiling water into the sink.

Solid Surface

For daily cleaning we recommend using soap and water on a soft cloth or sponge.  For stubborn stains use a white Scotch Brite pad and non-abrasive cleaner such as Soft Scrub.

To remove scratches, start by sanding with 400 grit paper followed by 600 grit paper and then clean the area with Soft Scrub and a white Scotch Brite pad.

To keep the sink bright and clean we recommend simply using bleach and water.  Fill the sink ¼ full with water and add 1 to 2 cups of bleach.  Wipe the sides of the sink and let stand for 15 minutes.  Then drain the sink and rinse.
